My Story

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Her2 positive breast cancer Dec. 27th, 2011. I had three large tumors in my left breast, I also had two positive lymph nodes and so with 5 positive biopsies I started my journey. In the beginning, it was a whirlwind and within a week, I was getting a port and preparing for chemo and the rush to save my life was on. Eight months later (August 20th) after stopping chemo (12 sessions) and not having surgery (a suggested double mastectomy) or radiation like my doctors wanted me to, I sat at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Illinois and heard the results of a mammogram, MRI, Pet Scan and blood tests were that they could find no cancer in my body. The nurses and doctors were baffled and no one could explain how I could have had this terrible cancer and it was now gone, except for me. I said the Lord healed me through prayers, education, diet and supplements. I started this blog when I was first diagnosed, it is not just about on cancer, but my life and day-to-day thoughts and activities. There are suggested websites, blogs, videos and more here that I believe can benefit those dealing with cancer and those who want to be preventative. My hope is that you and yours will learn, be encouraged and healed. My family prays every night for those with cancer and that you will be not only be healed but that you will live long and happy lives.

Love and Blessings on your journey.

Family update - Jan 17, 2014

I'm heading out soon so this will be quick:

1. Hope and I are going tonight to Kemah and Galveston to celebrate her 13th birthday which is on Saturday.

2. Hayden's 7th birthday is on Sunday. No major plans just church a special meal out and a trip to the toy store.

3. Our 18th anniversary is on Monday! I have no idea where we will go but most likely just a nice dinner. So obviously its a busy and fun time for us.

4. Holly gets to go and spend the night aboard a submarine in Galveston on Saturday with Civil Air Patrol and so she's excited about that. Her birthday is next month and so she is potting it all out as she is our big planner.

5. I just got a haircut for the first time in about a year and a half so even though most people may not notice the change I sure do and each day my hair continues to grow out from my hairless chemo days I get excited!

6. I am going to have another surgery soon and I will have 6 weeks that I can't lift anything over a pound and so scheduling it is a bit tricky.

7. I've been very busy with the school (Coram Deo Prep - www.coramdeokaty.org) and we have an informational meeting Feb 3rd and so I'm getting ready for that and now that its January we are getting  a lot of emails and phone calls about next year and so I am super excited!

8. I'm going on a silent retreat next weekend and I'm super excited about that. I am planning what books I'll be taking and such.

9. All the kids are doing well and they are excited that we get Monday off for the holiday!

Take care

Blessings
Karri
