My Story

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Her2 positive breast cancer Dec. 27th, 2011. I had three large tumors in my left breast, I also had two positive lymph nodes and so with 5 positive biopsies I started my journey. In the beginning, it was a whirlwind and within a week, I was getting a port and preparing for chemo and the rush to save my life was on. Eight months later (August 20th) after stopping chemo (12 sessions) and not having surgery (a suggested double mastectomy) or radiation like my doctors wanted me to, I sat at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Illinois and heard the results of a mammogram, MRI, Pet Scan and blood tests were that they could find no cancer in my body. The nurses and doctors were baffled and no one could explain how I could have had this terrible cancer and it was now gone, except for me. I said the Lord healed me through prayers, education, diet and supplements. I started this blog when I was first diagnosed, it is not just about on cancer, but my life and day-to-day thoughts and activities. There are suggested websites, blogs, videos and more here that I believe can benefit those dealing with cancer and those who want to be preventative. My hope is that you and yours will learn, be encouraged and healed. My family prays every night for those with cancer and that you will be not only be healed but that you will live long and happy lives.

Love and Blessings on your journey.

Cancer Free! - Jan. 18, 2013

There have been many things that have happened in the last 8 days, but the one thing you will want to hear first is this - I am still cancer free! Yeah! I believed I would be and so the news is not that exciting to me, but I know for some of you that worry a bit more than me it is a big relief.  Thanks for all your prayers and support!
Now here’s how I found that out. Starting on Monday I was having some stomach pains, bloating and just general discomfort which continued to get worse. By Tuesday night as I was at the mall looking for a swimsuit for our cruise, it hurt even when walking and trying on clothes. By Wednesday morning at 3 a.m., I woke up in pain so bad I considered going to the ER. I held out and went to the PA at my doctor’s office and she did blood tests, urine tests and an exam. She decided to send me to get a CAT scan, thinking it may be gallbladder or liver problems.  My concern was that I just spent the 10th having testing done including a PE scan and so I drove over to MD Anderson to get my results and see if they could see anything on that test regarding my pain and so when I go t there Dr. Patel surprisingly wanted to talk to me.

He said that all the tests looked good and no cancer was found, however they found 2 cists on my ovaries, which is no big deal and common especially after a partial hysterectomy and some “remarkable” blah blah blah in my pelvis area. Basically, stuff they couldn’t identify and so he wanted me to get an MRI and so when I told him about my pain he was concerned too and so I went and had a Cat scan done on Wed.

So fast forward, I have now been back to my family practice doctor and a gastro doc as well yesterday and so I was diagnosed, for now, with inflammation and some other long name illnesses. I have prescriptions for antibiotics and painkillers to eye drops for allergies in eyes. I also have to get glasses as I found out at an ophthalmologist app. that I am now farsighted and need them for up-close reading, computer and such.

All that being said, I woke up at 5:30 this morning in pain and needed pain medication.  So, with that Mark and I made the difficult decision of cancelling our cruise, which we were to leave for tomorrow morning. I hate this but I want to enjoy my first cruise and if we are paying over $1000, I don’t want to be pathetic and yucky feeing the whole time.  I just booked another cruise for February 2 – 7th, and so that’s just a few weeks. The doctor’s think I should be better in 5 – 10 days and so it will be perfect. We had insurance on our cruise and so we will get the majority of our money back within 30 days. Please pray all that goes smoothly and quickly.
So now it’s Hope’s birthday and over the last few years on her birthdays, her dad broke his wrist and we ended up in the ER and then he had to have surgery, I’ve been in chemo, she’s had to go for academic testing and I even went into labor with her brother! The poor girl juts can’t catch a birthday break, as now I am on pain killers and we aren’t planning much for the day. Tonight we will probably go out to dinner, I hope I feel better than I do now and can go.

Anyways that is it for now. I’ll update when I feel a bit better
Have a great day!

  2. Praise God! No cancer! So sorry you had to put off your cruise, but that's great that you got the insurance so you can go next month. I hope you feel better very soon and that your cruise is fabulous!
