My Story

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Her2 positive breast cancer Dec. 27th, 2011. I had three large tumors in my left breast, I also had two positive lymph nodes and so with 5 positive biopsies I started my journey. In the beginning, it was a whirlwind and within a week, I was getting a port and preparing for chemo and the rush to save my life was on. Eight months later (August 20th) after stopping chemo (12 sessions) and not having surgery (a suggested double mastectomy) or radiation like my doctors wanted me to, I sat at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Illinois and heard the results of a mammogram, MRI, Pet Scan and blood tests were that they could find no cancer in my body. The nurses and doctors were baffled and no one could explain how I could have had this terrible cancer and it was now gone, except for me. I said the Lord healed me through prayers, education, diet and supplements. I started this blog when I was first diagnosed, it is not just about on cancer, but my life and day-to-day thoughts and activities. There are suggested websites, blogs, videos and more here that I believe can benefit those dealing with cancer and those who want to be preventative. My hope is that you and yours will learn, be encouraged and healed. My family prays every night for those with cancer and that you will be not only be healed but that you will live long and happy lives.

Love and Blessings on your journey.

Quick update - Please read and pray. Feb 15, 2012

Hey everyone! Wow, 17 people joined up (as followers) in the matter of hours, and so I feel happy and encouraged by that and knowing that you care.

1.  I had the ultrasound this morning, and they did say that the tumors are shrinking a bit, however they also want a mamogram now because they think that Christas' radiology dept. missed some other possible tumors up by my nipple where we knew there was calcification/ crystalization. So good news/ bad news there. My oncologist is supposed to be calling me and we'll go from there.

2.  If you would please pray for a man named Joel Anthis, I know the family would appreciate it greatly. As I was leaving the hospital, I saw an old freind from Second Baptist, Tom Steinweig, and he told me that Joel (a freind/ doctor here in Katy) that has to have triple by- pass  surgery tomorrow. It is all very sudden and I think they found out just yesterday. It's very shocking as he seemed very healthy and strong.

3. I have had many conversations in the last few days and I am really wanting to go to MD Anderson now that I know that there is an underground system and that as long as you have connections on the inside, you can get through the process easier and faster. I am looking into everything very carefully as the herceptin drug that I am on is causing neuropathy, in my right side especially. I know this is a side effect but quite honestly; this scares me a bit.

4. I have been up since around 4:30. Not by choice mind you, but up none the less. I am frustrated that my body is doing this and I can't seem to shut of my brain and rest. This has been going on for days now.

5. I am going to try to go to Missions Night at Bridgepoint Church tonight. I haven't been to church in about 6 weeks. I look forward to seeing people and learning about the missions.

I hope that you are doing good, and I pray that you will all be proactive with your health and never get this yucky thing called cancer.

Blessings
Karri
