Notes on the video and my hair situation.
- My head was and is still tender and sensitive at times - the result of the chemo.
- I was looking at a mirror during the video and the little boys kept messing with it.
- I never cried or got upset about losing my hair. I don't know why. I guess I had a lot of people praying for me and the peace that passes understanding was with me.
- I'm blessed with a good shaped head and so I am fine with walking around and people even seeing me without a hat or scarf. I do wear one out in public, but that's almost more for others than for me.
- I have yet to wear a wig. I do have 3 wigs in my closet that people have lent me. I have thought I need to keep them in case I go to a wedding or something.
- I still have a bit of stubble and I guess Iam planning on keeping it until it falls out completely,it's cut so short now that it won't cloge the shower up or anything.
- I have a ton of scarves and hats but realize that medimum to large squared scarves are best because I can fold it into a triangle and put it on easily without tons hanging down my back. These type seem more difficlt to find.
- I do have some little red bumps/ marks on my head and a bit of dry scalp. I don't think about it often. This is just temporary.
- Many people say that their hair came back in different that it was previous to chemo. I'd be happy if mine came back the way it was.
- I'll try to get part two of the video up within the week.

Oh my, Karri, it is just so like you to make a potensial very sad and traumatic event into a fun activity for the family. I loved hearing the kids' laughter. You know that you are setting a very high standard here for all that know you. How can we ever complain again about a bad hair day or PMS or any silly thing like that seeing you go through this with strenght and joy in the Lord. It was very humbling to watch. Ps. Our Sunday School class prayed for you and your family today. Hope you get some good sleep tonight before tomorrows Chemo - take that Darwin Awards book with you that I gave you a few weeks ago- it is so funny! xx
ReplyDeleteAm waiting for part 2 of the video, as the first one just cuts off. (no pun intended) I pray you stick with some type of chemo, even though it is making you feel so bad, as all of my friends and people I have talked to that have survived stage 3 (with metatasis) have gone with gone with chemo and are cured (well past the 5 year survival rate one with 20 years and no reoccurance). The chemo was horrible both before and after the mastectomy but it worked. My other two friends that did holistic both died. This is enough proof for me. Buy you have to do what is right for you.
ReplyDeleteBack to the video, it was hilarious! You had a terrific hair dresser and the kids were helpful too. I am anxious to see the finished product! You looked like you were having fun too except when your head hurt. It was good to see you laughing as I haven't seen you in so long. The phone doesn't really show your state of mind like the video does!
